Did you know that the average house contains more than 100 different insect species? What’s worse is that many are considered to be pests.
Take flies, for instance, they can transmit diseases such as salmonella and cholera. Other examples include ants, mosquitos, termites, and bed bugs.
Do you have a pest infestation in the house? Don’t want to deal with it yourself? Then consider hiring a pest control company.
Not all of them are equal, though, which is why it’s so important to do your research.
Need some pointers? Keep reading for some tips on how to choose the best pest control!
1. Check the Company’s Reputation
Check their online reviews. See what past customers have to say about their pest control services. That way, you know what to expect. Be wary of reviews that are generic and overly positive as they may be fake.
For example, you can look them up on Google Business. Other popular review sites include Yelp and Angi.
You can also check the company’s score at the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which is garnered directly from public data. Ideally, they should have at least an A rating; it means that they operate in a trustworthy manner and will make a good faith effort to resolve any customer concerns.
2. They Should Be Licensed and Insured
Ask to see their license (most states require licensing for those that work in the pest control industry- it means they’ve completed the necessary training to do the job). Reputable companies will be more than happy to provide you with this information.
If necessary, you can always verify the license by calling the State Department of Agriculture.
Also, make sure that they’re bonded and insured. That way, if anything happens, you won’t be responsible for any injury or damage that occurs during the treatment process.
3. Get a Written Quote
Never accept a price over the phone. A reputable company will provide you with a written quote after a thorough inspection of your home; it’ll explain what exactly they’ll be doing and how much it’ll cost.
You also want to make sure that all of the costs and fees are included with a breakdown in the contract. Read the fine print. Make sure that you understand everything that’s written on it. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
And don’t forget to inquire about the warranty. For example, some companies may offer a guarantee if you pay for annual inspections after the initial treatment.
Choosing the Best Local Pest Control Company
There are many things that you want to consider when you’re choosing a pest control company—from their reputation to their credentials. So don’t go with the first one that you find; always do your research.
