You need a hobby. No really, you do. It turns out having a hobby is good for you. At the very least, having a hobby can improve your mental health.
But which hobby is right for you? Maybe the current zeitgeist of collecting trading cards makes your wallet anxious. Or maybe the idea of woodworking, and all of the associated dangers terrifies you.

Interested in getting started? Here’s what it’s like to collect Hot Wheels cars.
It’s Super Fun
No really, collecting Hot Wheels is a lot of fun.
For some, it’s nostalgia. Maybe they had Hot Wheels when they were going up. Coming across them in a toy aisle at the local store or stumbling across some at a yard sale brought back childhood memories.
They decide to pick up a few. Just one or two at first. Then within months, they’re collecting hundreds, if not thousands, of them.
That’s how Bruce Pascal got back into Hot Wheels, and now he has the best Hot Wheels collection around.
Others see a particular Hot Wheels they like – maybe modeled after a popular car like a Camaro or a Lamborghini – and pick it up. Then they get curious about what other types of Hot Wheels are available, and before you know it they are deep in the Hot Wheels collecting hobby.
However they get started, collectors get enjoyment out of collecting Hot Wheels. And if there’s one thing a hobby should do, it’s make you happy.
There’s a Hot Wheels for Everyone
There’s a Hot Wheels type for every collector.
The most obvious theme to collect for is the series. Over the years, Mattel toys have released a number of themed Hot Wheels series. A few examples include the Treasure Hunt series, the licensed Fast & Furious Premium series, and the Forza Motorsport series.
Other themes collectors go for include specific colors (maybe you really like pink!) or certain makes and models of cars.
There are a lot of different collecting hobbies out there, but many of them can get pricey very quickly. That doesn’t have to be the case with Hot Wheels. You can choose to collect within your budget, and the most affordable Hot Wheels are readily available at major box stores and online retailers.
Hot Wheels have been around since Mattel introduced them in 1968, so there are thousands of them available to collect!
Hot Wheels Make for Great Displays
As with any collecting hobby, there’s the age-old debate of whether or not you should take your collection out of its original box.
If you plan on holding on to your collection and possibly selling it at a later date, keeping it in the original packaging will preserve its value. Otherwise, you can take them out of the box and play with them.
There’s also a third option of creating a display of your own, and showcasing your collection that way. It can be as simple as a set of shelves, creating a display with PVC pipes, or designing a car-themed display.

Collecting Hot Wheels is an affordable hobby that’s super easy to get into. The cars make for colorful displays, the toys have a long history behind them, and they’re popular with children and adults of all ages. Really, what’s not to love?
