Learn to be assertive

Saying ‘no’ can be extremely difficult for those who are more introverted or worried about upsetting others. In turn, you become a ‘people pleaser’. 

You’ll be respecting other people’s needs and wants, but how about what you need at that moment? If you’re asked a favor, for example, and you’re already exhausted, agreeing to their request only puts your health and wellbeing at risk. 

The more you allow others to control you, the harder your confidence will get hit over time. You’ll be left feeling annoyed, upset, and depressed. Instead, learn to stand up for yourself, and you’ll feel more empowered. 

Take care of your appearance

Some individuals struggle with self-confidence due to their appearance. These two factors often go hand-in-hand, especially when the individual has been mocked or had negative comments thrown their way.

While this reflects the bad traits of such people, it’s difficult to feel confident when you’re self-aware. It’s natural to fixate on these destructive reactions and constantly judge yourself. The good news is, that it can be simple to make changes to your appearance if you wish.

As humans, we find a sense of inner purpose by doing something meaningful every day – whether that be for our own goals or for the sake of others. Studies have shown that volunteering is a great self-esteem booster as you’re working hard towards a goal that benefits hundreds of other people.
