With winter fast approaching, those cold nights and drizzly days make the garden look less and less appealing, or at least that is what most people believe. Just because the sun sets at 4pm and shorts are no longer an option does not mean that you cannot go out and enjoy the one piece of nature that you can call your own, and with this guide you can really make the most of your garden during these frigid months, here are five ways to continue enjoying your garden over winter 2021.
Get heaters installed
The simplest and most effective way to still be able to enjoy your garden over winter is to get yourself some heaters set up outside and around your sitting area. Show Mother Nature who is really running the show this winter, as with heaters installed you can go out and enjoy your garden at any time of day, whatever the temperature may be. If you have the space maybe invest in a fire pit, though if you do not and want an easy, cost-effective and environmentally friendly option then try out an electric heater, you will not regret it.
Do some decorating
If you look outside and feel like there is something missing to really tie the place together, you could make it your winter mission to decorate the place and bring that nice finishing touch. Garden centres are filled to the brim with delightful ornaments, statues, and water features just waiting for you to come in and collect them, so take some time, plan out how you want your garden to look, then get out there and create the image you have in your head.
Build an extension or covering
If you are looking for something a little more permanent to really protect you from the elements then you might want to consider building a structure of some sorts. Whether it be a pergola, a covered conversation pit, or even a funky shed bottom of your garden, having that extra space to mess around in and protect yourself from the elements offers you so many more options to help enjoy your garden during the winter.
Take up winter gardening
For too long has spring and summer dominated the gardening world, it is time to show some love to the winter plants that have been neglected over the years. Some plants thrive in these cold conditions, and the same with certain vegetables, so do not let the drop in temperature stop you from getting your gardening fix, just make sure you know which plants and vegetables are cold-weather appropriate.
Find cold weather activities to do
If you have had enough of improving your garden and want to work on yourself, or just go out there and enjoy the day, then there are some great activities you can do that will utilise your outdoor space. If you want to workout then maybe try your hand at outdoor yoga, power through a workout routine, or just go outside and have a laugh with your loved ones, all you need to do is wrap up nice and warm and embrace all that winter has to offer.
